So, here we are in the end-of-year holiday season. Time for some ghoulish fun before getting ready to stuff ourselves...(First with candy, then with turkey :P)
This year Autumn had several Halloween books to read for her Pizza Hut BOOK IT goal (4 to be exact.) She read: It's Halloween I'm Turning Green, October Ogre, Bunnicula, and The Haunted Library. Next month she'll have another set to read, starting with The Chocolate Touch :P (Kid named John Midas where everything his lips touches turns into chocolate). The boys had several little books that we read, but their favorites were Where's My Mummy, Inside a House that was Haunted, and The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything.
We had them paint some little pumpkins:
And the boys decided to try out my witch hat:
And Andrew drew me a happy ghost:
I couldn't find much in the way of things to do for fall type stuff that didn't end up costing a lot, but we did do Pop's Pumpkin Patch at Cottom's Farm.
And of course there is Halloween itself. We wore those kids out. First we went to Sams to pick up some stuff and they all wanted to wear their costumes out, so we figured why not??
In the afternoon we took them to the Haunted Library in Leesburg:
Followed by attending a local church's fall festival. Then off to the local mall to see how trick or treating there was (not that great, most places that did participate ran out of candy in the first 15-20 minutes):
Then we ended the night checking out the safe door to door trick or treating zone in Fruitland Park (which they loved and we will do again if they have it next year). Autumn said it was the best Halloween ever.
The kid's calendar has now been updated to November and Halloween decorations are slowly being put away with what little Thanksgiving decorations we have (that you can even FIND) being put up.
And now for the throwback Halloween pics!
